Tampa Non-Profit Brings Hope to Jacksonville Residents Through Paying for Laundry of Those Less Fortunate

Current of Tampa Bay, Inc. volunteers will spend Saturday, Oct. 1 helping local residents wash and dry their clothes in Jacksonville, FL

LUTZ, FL, September 29, 2011 /Florida PR News/ -- Current of Tampa Bay, Inc. will spend Saturday, Oct. 1, volunteering their time to help wash the clothes of those less fortunate. The event is 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Sue's Coin Laundry - 4071 College St # 3 Jacksonville, FL 32205. The Laundromat is located in the historic neighborhood of Murray Hill.

The Laundry Love Project provides an opportunity for volunteers from throughout the community to assist those in need by helping them afford a simple, yet often unnoticed common need: doing their laundry. Current of Tampa Bay, Inc. President/Founder Jason Sowell and his volunteer force have been providing free laundry services throughout Tampa for more than two years. They recently held events in Leesburg and Brooksville, Florida.

This is Current's first Landry Love Project in Jacksonville and their volunteers are excited and ready to serve. "While we host Laundry Love Projects almost monthly in Tampa, we are excited to be in Jacksonville for our next project. I spent several years of my life there and I know the community would benefit from the project," said Sowell.

A Jacksonville based supermarket chain agreed to be co-sponsor for supplies to assist this event. Winn-Dixie kindly donated a $200 gift card which will be used to purchase items such as laundry detergent, fabric softener and garbage bags. "We are grateful that Winn-Dixie decided to provide us with a gift card. The $200 gift card donation will go a long way towards assisting with needed supplies to support the families we will serve," said Sowell.

Current needs community support to assist these families and seeking donations of quarters (rolls of $10), coloring books, crayons and laundry baskets and laundry detergent. Donations can be brought to the event on the morning of Oct. 1 or contact Jason Sowell at 727.537.9082. More information about this event can be found online at www.LaundryByCurrent.org.
