The new machines are more robust and were originally developed for the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA).
This machine can handle a wide range of concentrations from trace amounts in the parts-per-million range all the way up to 99.9% purity. They are able to detect elements, hazardous materials, and thicknesses in the nanometer range.
